You Are What You Eat!

You Are What You Eat, Drink & Think
“What are you Made Of”

You may not remember when you first heard it
but we have all listened to the phrase “You are what you eat”.
Do we understand what it means?
My name is Glen Colello, co-owner of Catch A Healthy Habit Cafe
in Fairfield. I look forward to blogging here for you on the topic that I have embraced
since I got that what we eat forms our blood that creates our tissues, bones and organs.
When I was challenged by Southport Chiropractic's Dr. Nick Bogannam in 2001
to leave out certain types of foods that he believed were the cause of my minor health aliments, ( allergies, acne, super stiff back...) the journey began. As refined sugar, dairy products and animal protein faded from my choices of food and drink my body transformed. To this day the journey continues. As co-owner of Connecticut’s only all raw vegetarian cafe I have met so many others that truly believe that they are what they eat. And yet so many others have taken no ‘steak’ in the phase and have many stories to why they eat what they eat. I am not blogging with a mission to create a Fairfield free of pizza parlors and steak houses, if so there would be many more vacancies along the Post Rd and Black Rock Tnpk than there are now. I will attempt to offer what I have learned on my journey, a 2005 Institute for Integrative Nutrition graduate, host of many events featuring leading health and wellness experts, Connecticut's only Raw Food Cafe co-owner since February of 2008 and someone still studying all the hottest
trends and peer reviewed studies. For now ask yourself, Are you what you eat?
Look at what you eat, look at the ingredients on the package if there is one, do you recognize the words? Look at your scale, do you like the number? Are you on medications? Do you know what created the need for that medication? We can take this journey together and both learn and grow to understand why and how we become what we eat.
